Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how MileMates ("MileMates", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores, shares and protects your information when you use the MileMates mobile application and related services (the "Platform"). By using the Platform you consent to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please stop using the Platform.

Information we collect

We collect: (a) account and profile data you provide (name, username, email, phone if given, city, bio, photos); (b) activity and fitness data you record (GPS routes, distance, pace, time, steps, calories, heart-rate estimates, activity type); (c) content you create (posts, captions, comments, clubs, challenges, chat messages); (d) device and technical data (device model, operating system, app version, identifiers, crash and diagnostic logs, IP address); and (e) usage data (features used, interactions, timestamps).

Health and fitness data

Activity metrics and derived insights (such as Recovery Score, pace analysis and training load) are estimates generated for informational purposes only. You provide this data voluntarily and consent to our processing of it to operate the Platform. We do not sell your health or fitness data.

Location and route data

Precise GPS location is collected only while you actively track an activity, to measure distance, pace and route. You may hide the start and end points of routes in Privacy settings so your home or sensitive locations are not revealed on shared content. You can disable location permission at any time via device settings, though activity tracking will not function without it.

How we use your information

We use your information to: provide and operate the Platform; calculate your stats and insights; enable social features, clubs, challenges and leaderboards according to your privacy settings; personalise your experience; maintain safety, prevent fraud and abuse; comply with law; and improve, secure and develop the Platform.

Legal basis and consent

We process your information based on your consent, the performance of our terms with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Platform, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent by deleting your account, subject to information we must retain by law.

Sharing with service providers

We share information with trusted third-party service providers who process it on our behalf (for example cloud hosting, storage, analytics, crash reporting and communication tools) under contractual confidentiality and security obligations. Other users see only the content and profile information you choose to make visible under your privacy settings. When you submit a coach or diet-guidance request, we share relevant information (such as your name, contact details, fitness goals, and diet preferences) with the independent, verified coach assigned to assist you, solely for the purpose of providing that service.

Government, legal and safety disclosures

We may access, preserve and disclose your information, without prior notice to you, where we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary or appropriate to: (a) comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process, court order, subpoena, or a lawful request by any government, regulatory, tax, security, defence, law-enforcement or other public authority in India or in the interest of the nation and national security; (b) respond to lawful requests and cooperate with authorities in the interest of the country, public order, sovereignty, integrity, defence or security of the State; (c) enforce our Terms, investigate potential violations, or detect, prevent or address fraud, security or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, safety or life of MileMates, our users, or the public. You acknowledge and agree that we may hand over your data and account information to competent authorities as required by law or in the national or public interest, and that we are not liable to you for any such disclosure made in good faith.

Business transfers

If MileMates is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or a successor policy.

International data transfer

Your information may be stored and processed in India or in other countries where we or our service providers operate. Where required, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform, and thereafter as required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and enforce our agreements. On account deletion we remove or anonymise your personal data except where retention is legally required.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.

Children

The Platform is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher). We do not knowingly collect data from such children. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

Your rights and controls

Subject to applicable law (including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 in India and equivalent laws such as the GDPR where applicable), you may access, correct, update or delete your personal data, control visibility, block users, and withdraw consent. You can delete your account and associated data from within the app at any time, or via our web-based account deletion form without needing to install the app.

Analytics and diagnostics

We may use analytics and crash-reporting tools to understand usage and improve stability. These tools may collect device and usage data in aggregated or pseudonymised form.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
